Parent Infant (0-22 months)
Overview: We often refer to the parent-infant program as a "playgroup with a purpose." It is designed to give parents a greater understanding of Montessori education and of the specific development of their own child. This is the only program at Keystone that parents attend along with their children. This program is for parents, grandparents, caregivers and children from birth - 22 months. Typically this class is held once a week on a Thursday or Friday morning. Schedule may vary based on school year or availability of instructor.

Toddler Morning Community - (22-36 months)
Overview: The toddler morning program serves toddlers from 22 months to 36 months who are ready to be without a parent for three hours. Classes are offered from 8:30 am to 11:15 am with options for two, three, four or five mornings a week. Children work in a prepared environment with an enhanced selection of developmental activities.
All toddler programs are morning (8:20-11:15) only.
The activities, or works, support and strengthen the child's language, communication, coordination, and gross and fine motor skills, and the need for independence, concentration, sense of order and respect that help to set the precedent for focused learning.

Primary (3-6 year olds)
Overview: Primary is for children ages 3-6 years old. A Primary classroom has one trained Montessori guide (AMI or AMS certification) and a teaching assistant. Children all participate in a three hour morning work cycle where the guide will give one on one and small group lessons to students. Students not receiving active lessons move independently through the room working on materials they have had a lesson on and working to a level of mastery. Regardless of the program your child enrolls in, all children are together for the Primary Morning work cycle.
Primary Morning (11:30am)
All children in Primary participate in the Primary morning program. This includes the three hour morning work cycle. Children enrolled in this program are dismissed at 11:30am
Primary Plus (1:00pm) - elective
All children in this elective program participate in the Primary Morning program. Additionally, they remain for an extra 90 minutes for lunch and recess. Dismissal is 1:00pm
Primary All Day - (2:45pm) elective
This is for second year students who have demonstrated an ability to remain engaged in intellectual activities beyond the morning work cycle but may still need the opportunity to rest after lunch and recess. Children who are fully bathroom independent and able to be away from home without distress are admitted to this program based on teacher recommendations and support and alignment from families who agree their child is able to stay for the day. Dismissal is 2:45pm
Primary Extended Day (Kindergarten; 2:45pm)
This is our Kindergarten program for Primary students. Students who are in this program are 5 years old, in their final year of Primary, and can handle the academic challenges of an afternoon work cycle. Dismissal is 2:45pm.

Junior (6-9 years) & Senior Elementary (9-12 years)
Overview: The Elementary program is divided into two levels, the Junior Elementary class for 6 to 9 year olds, and the Senior Elementary for 9 to 12 year olds. Using the skills acquired in the early years, the elementary student is ready to begin her exploration of the universe in a more profound way. "Five Great Lessons" about human life and its place in the cosmos provide the context for the study of all the subjects: mathematics, language, history, geography, geometry, science, music and art.
The interdisciplinary approach to learning means children develop a perception of unity of knowledge and existence. Children work both individually and in groups and are encouraged to pursue their own areas of interest, with the guidance of a teacher. Once again, the freedom allowed and responsibility expected in the classroom, enable the child to develop a strong sense of self-esteem and inner discipline as they continue their life of learning.

Middle School (12-14 years)
Overview: Employing Montessori’s principles to achieve the “valorization of the personality, “ Keystone’s Middle school program uses the energy, growth and tremendous academic, social and ethical potential of the adolescent in an interdisciplinary approach to learning. These young people move toward self-sufficiency, self-respect, and self-confidence while appreciating our human interdependency, working in joyous collaboration, and make meaningful contributions to their society.
Within a two-year cycle, the students learn World History and Geography, American History and Government, Constitutional Issues, and analyze current events. They learn critical reading skills in works ranging widely in the disciplines, writing, editing, and public speaking skills in the presentation of their work. Our studies in mathematics emphasize theoretical and practical problem solving in Advanced Mathematics, Algebra and Geometry.
Science covers in-depth explorations in Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, and Physics. Each member of the Middle School Community gives several hours each month in service to the school and to the greater community in class-sponsored activities. The students are active in local sports groups and activities. The Middle School curriculum strives to develop each student’s independence, personal responsibility, academic strength, and sense of social justice through service to others, in an effort to address and cultivate the needs of the “whole” adolescent.
